Nightwalker opens this Sunday March 10th at Exhibit B Gallery in Second Life and simultaneously at the Odyssey Gallery in VRChat – 3 PM PST/6 PM EST/7:30PMNLT/11PM GMT. This exhibit is a part of the Space is Volatile pavilion at the Wrong Biennale.

Nightwalker is a collection of black and white photographs by Marcel Levandier that explore the nocturnal urban landscape of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. These images document the darkness–street lights illuminating lone figures on rain-soaked streets, objects left in empty parking lots, ghostly reflections on the surface store windows. The photographer captures the beauty and loneliness of the night, and alludes to the stories that lurk in the shadows. Nightwalker was inspired by the Artist’s nightly walks around the city, where he observes the interplay of light and darkness, the contrast of movement and stillness, and traces of human presence and absence.

Marcel Levandier is a photographer, artist, and musician based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. He has been involved in the East Coast independent music scene for decades, as a composer, performer, and producer. His artwork ranges from street photography, to collage work, and he is known for both his ability to capture scenes that reflect the culture and atmosphere of place, and for his adventurous exploration of the abstract and conceptual. His photography work uses the power of the camera to freeze time, reveal gritty details, and create new meanings. He has been using social media as a vehicle for developing and showing his work, and most recently has been exploring black and white photography, in both digital and film formats, with a focus on street scenes.
